Torino & Piedmont Discovery Tour – Piedmont

Day 1: Truffles and Barolo Wine

Arrival in Turin and just 45 minutes later you're already sitting in Caffè San Carlo, one of Turin's many historical cafés, enjoying a delightful breakfast with espresso, an intensely tasteful cocoa or perhaps a Bicerin – a Turin speciality par excellence.

Next our guide will steer you around the city for two hours and reveal the secrets of Turin. Mole Antonelliana with the cinema museum, Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale, Museo Egizio and of course the occasional short consumption intermezzo in one of the characteristic venues that lends Turin its noblesse and royal touch.

We consume an Apero-Pranzo lunch in one of the city's many pleasant, small Art Deco bistro venues, where we, perhaps most important of all, enjoy the company of the Turinese locals. Depending on the hour of your arrival from the airport, we will have half a day or a whole day to introduce Turin to you. You will also have at least an hour of free time, or if you would like two or three hours. By 7 PM our shuttle will be departing for an inspirational location, a monastery where you will learn about its interesting history. Afterwards you will dine in the best tavern of the small town located in the hills of the Roero area and only five minutes walk from the monastery. There you will enjoy a four-course menu with wine pairings.

Day 2: Programme of choice – Truffle hunting by yourself in the Barolo area or Culture a go-go with a castle tours

After breakfast you leave for the Langhe, more specifically La Morra, one of the eleven villages that produce Barolo. Time to get active! Truffles, belonging to the family of fungi, are with an average cost price of 300 € to as much as 700 € per 100 grammes still an "elite" product. In other words, taking a look behind the scenes will definitely be an exclusive experience to remember. You will go truffle hunting, experiencing the cooperation between man and dog "live" and hearing the answers to all the WH-questions of the truffle hunt. Suitable footwear is recommended, as it will be quite an adventurous walk… But you can also opt for culture: visiting castles, because every village in Langhe has one and some are open to the public. Whatever programme you choose, you will discover the eleven Barolo producing villages and visit a high-quality wine cellar where you will get to taste the Barolo Cru. So from an early morning until just before your dinner we will provide all kinds of activities. You will dine in a unique slow food restaurant, located at only three minutes walk from your hotel.

Day 3: Cheeses, Chocolate and Barbaresco wine

During your third day, there are a couple of activities waiting for you that are emblematic of the region. You will be visiting two areas, the Barbaresco and the Roero. One of the fun things you will be doing is a cheese tasting in three shops run by extraordinary people. The shops have a 1950s decor, so it looks like the time has stopped there. Then you will taste the Nebbiolo and the Barbaresco in a place that seems fairly basic on the outside, but offers the exciting world of Barbaresco on the inside. This contrast is huge and quite impressive. Here you will also get a lunch with a tasting of the Arneis, Nebbiolo and of course Barbaresco. Afterwards you will visit a delicacy workshop with handcrafted filets that will blow your mind. The adventure will be finished with the tasting of Tonda Gentile and Baci di Cherasco chocolate. In the evening you will dine in a Palazzo in Cherasco. This will be a unique experience from the moment you walk through the door, as you will be passing a wine cellar and going to the dining area through the old, historic stairs lit by candles in atmospheric glass structures. There you will discover an astonishing setting of frescoes, graceful tapestries and Venetian chandeliers. The eight-course tasting menu with wine pairings is a sublime interpretation of slow food turned into high-quality culinary presentations, that are not only quite easy on the eyes but also taste superbly.

Day 4: Bye bye Cherasco & Co

After breakfast you will head back to the airport. Or if you wish, we can start working on a follow-up adventure filled with authentic experiences.
